It's a female Andrena (it has no corbiculum on the hind tibia so that would rule out Apis). Can't be sure of species but I suspect Andrena carantonica - a very common species in gardens over much of Britain |

Mining bee rather than mason bee. I would be pretty confident that this is a female A. carantonica.
Mason bees (Osmia spp.) collect their pollen in a stiff brush of hairs on the underside of their abdomens. In this specimen, the pollen collecting hairs (scopa) are on the hind leg |
