[ID] Cranefly

Can this be ID`d from a portion of a Cranefly ?, i have the wings if there needed ...



Could it be Tipula maxima ? ...

I think it may be Tipula scripta, please could you post the wings it would make it a little easier.

I was looking at images in the link below, at rest, the wings were open, maybe that specimen wasent alive . Anyway, thanks for the ID ...

Here is another one, i hope you dont mind.

This one was around 6mms. and has been in the same place for three days, i think its newly hatched, i dont know much about there life-cycle, perhaps they come from larvae, i dont know ...

For the first (larger) cranefly, it does look rather like Tipula scripta, but I think it looks even more like the similar (but slightly smaller) Tipula rufina - the dark stripe along the side of the thorax is characteristic, the antennae are the right colour (on my specimens of scripta the first half-dozen segments are yellow), and the flight period matches (it's still a little early for scripta to be flying, although I'm sure there are the occasional early ones seen).

Having said that, there are similar species closely related to T. rufina, but given the time of year and the markings I'd say T. rufina is the most likely.

The second small cranefly with hairy wings looks like a species of Molophilus, but these need microscopic examination to identify to species.
