| | | Anyone good on weevils A tiny weevil about 3 or 4mm body length. It was originally sitting on my car roof (find lots of bugs there) but I persuaded it to climb onto a camelia petal for a better background

Vine Weevils larvae do immense damage to roots of plants - they're cream in colour with a brownish coloured head and are usually curled into a "C" position.
I don't think the picture is of a vine weevil either - all the ones I've ever seen are a lot darker. |

| Although be careful as several other less destructive beetle familys have similar larvae to you description we dont want to kill the wrong sort. |

I suspect it is not a magnet but a trap. The drive it's parked on is between two houses and it does not get any sun until nearer mid summer. Bugs land on it and are very easy to spot but they seem to have difficulty taking off again. I often get tiny chalcid wasps on it and have watched them trying to take off in vain - the surface seems to cool them off. I've got bugs to walk onto a leaf and placed the leaf in the sun and they take off immediately
