What is this please?
I found this whilst digging so not sure if it was living in the soil or just fell there.

One of the so-called cut-worms which are the larvae of certain noctuid moths such as Large Yellow Underwing which I think this is.

Yes this is The larva of the large yellow underwing Noctua pronuba, they live close to the soil surface where they feed on grasses and low herbaceous plants. If it was in the ground possibly preparing to pupate, although it doesnt look as if it is.
