Unknown Cynipid


About 6-7mm. Today in the back garden. Possibly Andricus?

Although im happy for other suggestions

It looks like the Knopper Gall Wasp Neuroterus quercusbaccarum. I was finding adults a couple of weeks ago on a saltmarsh on the Isle of Sheppey - not the most Oak-infested region of the UK.

At first look I thought it was Andricus kollari but totally the wrong time of year. The knopper gall wasp Andricus quercuscilicis is usually darker than that. and alot of cynapids look very similar in body form. If you could discover the plants it was inerested in in would certainly narrow it down.
I will hunt for you as much as I can but am having trouble with internet conection at minute

Cheers for both replys, it was on a gate and not near any plants as such, which does make it a little harder i know.
