| | | Is this an Emperor? Another photo from my archives. This dragonfly never quite made maturity as her wings did not develop (? correct terminology). The pond had only been there one year before she emerged but I gather that they do not always take 2 years.
I think it is a female Emperor - am I right?

| | | Re: Is this an Emperor? Yes female Emperor Dragonfly Anax imperator, Looks like shes just emerged and the wings are filling with fluid and air and still expanding. Shame shes not fully changed as her colours are still abit washed out, nice find though none the less. They either emerge after 2 years or emerge after one year depends on food and temperature.
