| | | Re: Insect of the Day A trip to Thursley on a warm day produces lots of good insects- 17 species of dragonfly- Brilliant Emerald is always a favourite!
Large numbers of Silver-studded Blues, a 4-dotted Footman sat in the Erica + a sand wasp species carrying away a Beautiful Yellow Underwing larva away.
Getting home saw my first Volucella zonaria of the year on a Cephalaria flower in the garden. |

| | | Re: Insect of the Day Wandering around my local patch this morning a couple of newbies for the year- c a dozen teneral Common Darters by the ponds- good to see them again + a basking male Gatekeeper.
Also pleased to see a fresh Small tortoiseshell- such a rare sight here now + lots of recently emerged 7-spot Ladybirds + smart Commas. |

I think I've seen 4 this year- 3 locally + 1 in Norfolk. I do miss them! |

I remember last year there was a big influx of ST into Norfolk from the near continent, but they didn't make it down here! |

This afternoon on a different part of the Forest a couple of Small Pearl-bordered Fritillaries & a Roesel's Bush-cricket singing. |
