Mystery hole

I hope this post goes ok as it is my first, while walking around a local woodland at the weekend, nr Colchester Essex, i noticed a lot of these holes in the ground, i assume that its made by an emerging insect, does anyone know which one.
I think the pic has gone into unidentified,
The coin shown is a £1 Steve.

Is this the right picture?:



If so, it looks like the burrow of a Minotaur beetle (Typhaeus typhoeus), a spectacular and fairly large beetle that provisions its burrows with dung for its larvae to feed on. The adult beetle is active during winter months, but is mostly nocturnal so not often seen.

And it might be helpful to say how I got your photo to appear: when you upload a photo you should see (underneath the photo itself) a box labelled "Forum Code" - copy the complete text from this box into your message and a thumbnail image magically appears

Can you tell me how/where you located the photo please?? I still can't find this "unidentified" Gallery!!!

All I did was click on someone else's unidentified photo (i.e. from a thumbnail under another heading) and then scroll through the images until I found one that looked like a hole in the ground with a coin next to it!

It seems that the photos for identification are filed under an "Archive" folder. Don't know if there is a more direct way of getting to them, can't see any links on the main WAB pages to this archive area, but no doubt someone who knows more about how WAB works will be able to enlighten us

Found it.....

I went to the Gallery page and clicked on "Image Archive" and there it was in the list

Oh yes, that's an easier way of doing it I hadn't spotted that link, thanks for pointing it out.
