| | | Re: Does anyone know what this is? Can't think what it could be in the UK this time of the year. Has appearance of a 'hopper' of some kind.
In USA could be Emerald Ash Borer originally from Asia.

If it had longer antennae I would have thought one of the Incuvariid moths - the wings look much like some of these species: e.g. Picture page about the Longhorn Moth Adela reaumurella |

| | | Re: Does anyone know what this is? Yeah I am in Liverpool.
It wasn't doing much hopping, its prefared way of getting around was to run, until I caught it under the glass.
It scared the living daylights out of me at first because I thought it has glowing red eyes, but on closer inspection these look like red patches below its head. |

If it is Emerald Ash Borer it is a potential pest to Ash Tress. It was imported to USA in Asian timber.
Please see here:

Should be reported.

On another photo I took, very similar to the one uploaded, it seems to have black eyes that take up most of its head.
I wonder if its been living in the fruit from the supermarket, we bought some clementines from Sainsburys, in a plastic box, with their leaves still on, it could have easily been hidden with the leaves. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
