| | | Dragonfly ID A couple of new pics for you Guys. The first is this wood pidgeon, who was attempting to have a go at my feeding station but could not work out how. . It is his expression that made me chuckle
The second was taken back in the summer and I am completely naive as to what this animal is called. I would just call it a dragonfly but I do not feel I am doing it justice as it must have an individual name. Can anyone help?

| | | Re: Dragonfly ID One of the best photographic subjects imho, but you just gotta learn patience and frustration. If you can't stand frustration, find another subject!, darn things are stunning to watch and beautifull to view....................but hardly ever land where you can see 'em or reach 'em with a camera. Common and Ruddy darters are generally happy to pose together with the migrant hawker and most damsels. Get a good book, not sure if it is allowed to post actual titles .
You can see them from as early as March right through to November but June to September are probably the best months. But, be very carefull. Like macro photography itself dragonflies are very infectious as a hobby. Take all the equipment you wish to photo them but you will often find it left in the bag while you chew a strand of grass and just sit there and watch them.......LOL, you have been warned
Keep your eyes open too if walking in woodland close to water. Great spot for dragons on trees and scrub.

| | | Re: Dragonfly ID Seeing these lovely dragonflies have made me realise how much I'm missing them already, infact I'm missing all insects. Roll on the first early emerging ones next year.
