Hi, I was out photographing fungi when this chap came down to see what I was up to... 
Can't find anything that looks right in Collins Complete British Insects - anyone got any ideas?

Certainly looks like a dryomyzid e.g. Neuroctena anilis or Dryomyza flaveola. You need to look at the wing venation as a starter. The flies in cop are a species of Lauxaniidae, seemingly a Sapromyza species. | | |
