| | | Newly Emerged Damselfly? I took this photo in July 2007 during a visit to Moore Nature Reserve near Warrington. I think (but have been known to be wrong on many occasions) that it is some sort of newly emerged damselfly. Can anyone provide an ID or any other useful information.
Thanks, John. |

| | | Re: Newly Emerged Damselfly? A cracking image John, you couldn't have found one much more newly emerged than this one!
Its very difficult to be certain but I'd happily put my money on it being a Common Blue Damselfly Enallagma cyathigerum, its quite a heavily built teneral which fits well with Common Blue, Azure damselfly tenerals usually look more delicate.
Sorry I can't be more specific John.

I took this second photo at the same spot in Moore Nature Reserve. It was on the wooden wall of a hide close to a lake. Perhaps it might help with an ID? |

| | | Re: Newly Emerged Damselfly? When I first saw it I thought the wings were too long for a Damselfly, perhaps a Damoiselle? I only say this because they exceed the abdomen. Maybe the wing length is just longer as its newly emerged though.
