| | | Re: Not a harlequin ladybird Yes, Calvia quattuordecimguttata. Not an uncommon ladybird in UK but it's one of the arboreal species that aren't seen as often as the 2-spot. They spend most of the time in the foliage of trees but may come down to find over-wintering shelter at this time of year.
By no coincidence, I've been looking at some trees today and found dozens of pine ladybirds ( Exochomus quadripustulatus) on the trunks.
