Hawkers & Darters hanging on

Hi all, Well today was the 1st November and I spent a couple of hours at my local patch, Messingham nature reserve in N lincs, and there were still quite a few Migrant Hawkers and Common Darters about. The Darters were looking very over mature but a couple of the Migrant Hawkers I saw looked in pretty good trim for the time of year. Didn't get any photos though.

Seen a handful of over-mature common darters locally in the last few days Roger but havent seen any hawkers for a while now.

There were lots of Darters still about at Arlington Reservoir on weds this week. Some were looking in good condition. Others were a bit tatty but that happens to all of us at this time of year I suppose!

I saw one of each on Tuesday but not able to take pictures. I was not that close but they seemed perky enough and looked quite colourful.

While out earlier this week caught sight of a Migrant Hawker.But by the time i got ready to take that shot it had long gone...But its nice to know they are still around ..

One Common Darter seen today, wouldnt keep still long enough.

I went to a place on Wednesday where I had seen countless numbers of Migrant Hawkers and commom Darters in August and the begining of September. There were none to be seen - so I took Fungi and Gall photos instead .

saw one Hawker Sp. today,didn't get close enough for Id though.

yes about a dozen mixed dragonflies yesterday, difficult to see what they were in the low light though. a session of pond dipping also gave us a plenty of newtlets with gills and legs just developed, will they survive the winter??? or overwinter in this stage?

There were still pairs of common darters ovipositing today where I was, and several active Migrant Hawkers.
