It's probably not a bee at all. It was flitting about and then kept still while I took this. I saw a couple of them yesterday afternoon.  |

Looking down on it did it look triangular with a long needle like projecting from the apex. Have seen several this year, but don't know what they are.

Keep watching the Bee-flies, they have some fascinating behaviour. Make sure there are some areas of dry soil around.
