This is one of the little guys who has made an wasp nest at the bottom of my garden ...Sorry didnt get his head in the pic To me the abdomen looks a little longer than the common wasp ...Help with ID would be appreciated..

This is a male: 7 visible abdominal segments. I don't have the expertise to take it any further.

Thanx a bunch ....any idea when they will all be leaving there is still plenty of them moving in and out during the day , is it a case of waiting for the frosty nights to arrive. Plus Im finding quite a few dead ones in the pond each day ..

Yes weather dependant, its staying warm, so as the frosts and dark cold nights start they will die off more rapidly. Afew will be starting to show this moribund in behaviour around now. |
