I'm not going to be much help. I think it is one of those pesky Square-spot Rustics again - but a worn specimen.
However, I was also considering the Pale Mottled Willow. The example in Waring is nothing like your one, but if you check the ' What moths may be flying this week in Suffolk' site on BC Suffolk, there is a similarity (click on the catalogue number for the species for a photograph and species data). I'm not convinced though and would probably go for the Square-spot Rustic.
I'll let one of the experts decide!

| | | Re: Noctuid sp. I have been running a trap for two hours so far tonight and not one Square-spot yet. Considering that apart from Large Yellow Underwing the Square-spot has been my most abundant Noctuid for a few weeks now.
Oh, BTW I agree with Square-spot Rustic.
