| | | A glorious afternoon outing. Before I start, let me apologise for those of you suffering the bad weather today. We've had our fair share recently, but this afternoon the weather cleared, leaving it bright and windy. We decided to go out for a few hours to one of our favourite local sites, that's Naturscape Wild Flower Farm at Langor Notts. This site is really superb, offering some exceptional sighting opportunities of a large variety of Dragonflies, Damselflies and Butterflies. The site is small, with a tiny pond that at first sight you'd think was not much good, boy would that idea prove to be wrong!
Here's some of the shots I got today, all within a small field near the pond.
Firstly Common Darters with a varity of colours:
Then we saw loads of Southern Hawkers, resting:
Migrant Hawker:
Back toward the Cafe, and on one bush were these Butterflies:
There were loads of them on these bushes, and extremely approachable!
What an amazing couple of hours! I've plenty more images I took but I think this gets over the superb variety at that site. |

Glad you had a good day, don't think many did (weather-wise). |

| | | Re: A glorious afternoon outing. Some great shots of the Darters Graham showing how variable the colours can be and some superb Hawker shots as well. Just goes to show you don't need a vast area to see a wide range of species.

| | | Re: A glorious afternoon outing. Lovely photos- I'm envious of those sightings- nothing rare, but the weather around London has been so miserable- we've had no sunshine since last week, just wind, drizzle + rain, like early November. Can't remember the last insect I saw! |

The sun shines on the righteous. Lovely shots and all in such a small area.
