yesterday in my garden, i seen a wasp like insect, it was about 2 inches long - coloured like a wasp, with big wings and a huge sting. I thought it might be a hornet??
Ive never seen a thing like this before, any ideas?? |

| | | Re: wasp like thing Your mention of a huge sting made me immediately think of a Horntail or something similar.The "sting" on these is actually an ovipositor used for laying eggs into wood and is harmless.

| | | Re: wasp like thing Not sure what it could be, one thing though most of these "big stings" are in fact ovipositers (for egg laying) and are absolutely harmless. Cheers
