| | Very odd creature! It has a yellow beak, red brown scorpion looking sting and a green and yellow concertinas body, it has two black striped wings and at first thought it was a dragon fly!
I have never seen anything like it..
.If I knew how to add pictures to the this thread I would.
Please email me on alec.sam@btinternet.com for a picture.(temp email address) |

Please email me on alec.sam@btinternet.com for a picture.(temp email address) | no idea what you saw, but to post a photo in this thread for everyone to have a look at you need to go to make sure your photo is approx 800x600, then upload it in the Gallery into forum images. once you've down that you can copy the code that starts [img] into your thread and it should load. there is a thread with much better instructions somewhere.

I thought it must be something incredibly rare, but obviously not judging by the large number of similar photographs in the Gallery section of this site (I just did a search for 'scorpion' in the Insect Gallery). |

Yup, a scorpion fly. The males have what look like stings on the tail end, but they can't and don't string. The females are the same apart from that tail which is more of a point. I love these little guys, you tend not to see many this late in the season though.

| | | Re: Very odd creature! I have never seen an insect like that before. But then again, I don't know much about insects. XD I do get some odd looking Ladybirds where I live though. I have seen blue ones, yellow ones, orange ones and ones that are white with orange spots. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
