Essex skipper


I photo graphed this guy in kent. It has black under the tips of its antennae. Doesn't that make it an Essex Skipper?

I thought that the end of the antennae was black with the Essex, I can see a lighter end on your shot. I could easily be wrong though.

This shot of Steves (Fourwings) is just about the best Essex shot we've got. (So far!)

Ah right. Seperating these skipper species is as bad as female darters! thanks
I live in Essex I should be able to find an Essex skipper somewhere...lol

It isn't easy, and I'm by no means certain. Even this superb shot had doubters:



I'd have thought that one was just about certain to be an Essex.
