blood red ants and turf ants

hi people
in one of my insect id books theres a description of turf ants and blood-red ants and apparently the turf ants allow a queen of another ant species to invade their nests then kill there own queen and rear the invaders offspring then the ants leave the conoly to die
any comments on why they do that?
and for the blood-red ants they steal the larvae of another ants nest and rear the larvae as slaves.

comments anyone?
