an insect thats been bugging me

Thinking back to last summer i clearly remember an insect i'd never knew of and still can't pin down ( but not that i'd want to of course ). It was the size of a crane fly had the legs like that of a crane fly a red head metalically blue body colour and short wings. any ideas?:

im not sure it might be an ichomin fly (cant spell that right) as they do have a crane fly apperance and sometimes strange colours .

Some of the wood-wasps e.g. Sirex juvencus have metallic blue bodies and red legs.

ichomin fly never heard of it but as i have never seen this newly beseen fly. thankyou and if i can find some pics to back this up i write back post hast-cheers. It looked very familiar to a crane fly but i'll also bare the wasp too. thanks for your help and i'll notify you if and when-jez.
