| | | Glow worms Just been out to shut my chickens in for the night and saw a little bright florescent green light on the wall, looked it up and its a glow worm. They are found a lot in Wiltshire due to the chalk. What a find as I have never seen the before. You can't see the brightness of the green tail because of the flash but it could be seen from quite a distance. |

| | | Re: Glow worms I think you may be the first this year? Very lucky to find them within your property you will have to keep an eye on the population now |

| | | Re: Glow worms The property we have bought is 2 acres of negected garden and pasture so lots of wildlife has had a chance to develop undisturbed. I intend to keep a large proportion this way.
We live next to a rail line and cow field so its open and surrounded by a huge variety of bushes and trees which may help them food wise. |

| | | Re: Glow worms Glow worms seem to be very popular round railway lines I assume the lack of any permenant lighting will acount somewhat for this...? I bet you could walk many UK railways and find glow worms!
I know there is a national glow worm record site (not sure of address right now) also UK safari are interested in sightings and don't publicise the exact location... | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
