Jason, I use the lamps up to mags of x40. Generally they're up to the job but just occasionally, when examining finer details of palps say, I wish I had a bit more light and find myself dragging one of the lamps closer - only to drag it under the field of view.

...I know the instance - suddenly one eyepiece apparently shuts-off!
