Has anybody any thoughts on the identity of this rather colourful fly I caught sunning himself on a bramble leaf by the canal this morning?   |

Hmmm .... just done a quick search on Google and came up with Mesembrina meridiana ... can anyone confirm or disprove this guess? |

certainly looks like a Noon Fly - M. meridiana , and they do love to sunbathe.

I would also go for Mesembrina meridiana (I think there are a few in the Gallery)
