What type of bee is this?

This small bee was in the garden yesterday - it was rather cold and wet after a rain shower so I was able to get close to it without it disappearing. I know next to nothing about bees and would like to know what type of bee it is (I realise identification to species isn't possible from this shot):

Looks quite like Osmia rufa, but I don't think they're still active at this time of year, so maybe a different Osmia species.

Its a female Osmia rufa (the only species of bee with facial protruberances like this) There are a few absolute ruins still about (saw one this morning).

Peak season is, of course, early May
