Hi just went to uncover our swimming pool and saw this in the top floating in the water any ideal what it is? Help i do i upload the pic? |

yeah i don't know what i am doing anyway the pic is of a big fly orange and black with what looks like a big tail that look likes it's got a sting on it? i have not seen anything like it before. |

If it was very large, around 4cm, then it would probably be a female Horntail - Urocerus gigas. It does look quite similar to the one in the picture. The 'sting' is actually an oviposter for laying eggs.
