Why am I not allowed to upload a photo?

Hi all,

I would like to upload a moth pic. for ID but after logging in and going to "start a new thread" I am told that I cannot post attachments and there is no facility to do so.Any help would be great. Apologies if this a recurring question.

Hi Charly,

It takes a bit of getting used to doesn't it. I think the crucial thing is realising that the Gallery is very well looked after and only really good photos are allowed in it; which is right and proper but certainly gives some of us mortals a high standard to aim for.
But if you want to download photos onto the forum (for identification purposes perhaps) then you need to save them in the 'Forum' section within the Gallery and so long as they are fairly small (maximum 1000 X 800 pixels) you should be O.K..

Thanks very much to both of you for the info. and the link, I'm sure it will sort out my problem. Although it does seems a little bit on the lengthy side just to upload a pic. compared to some forums, but I'm sure there are good reasons which I wouldn't want to get into right now
