| | | Painted Lady Hello. I was at Elmley today, had a great time and saw some smashing birds that I will put in the Gallery later. To my surprise, a lovely Painted Lady butterfly made an appearance, as we were walking.I think that this is very early for a migrant butterfly. Am I right?
Sorry the picture is the only one I could get before it moved on and there's a blade of grass infront to. Hey ho!
Hope this a sign migrant butterflies to come!

| | | Re: Painted Lady Still a good shot Jules. Good to see there's some of them around. My book says first season is April to October, although it doesn't mention if this is the time your likely to see them as migrants. |

| | | Re: Painted Lady Lovely photo Jules- I've yet to see a Painted Lady this year. May is a good month for these migrants to occur, though they have been recorded every month, hopefully these will breed for more later in the summer. |

| | | Re: Painted Lady Thank you for your kind comments, I just wish it had opened those beautiful wings just once before it disappeared.
Thanks for the information-perhaps this will be the first of many making landfall in Kent then further upcountry.

| | | Re: Painted Lady I saw my first painted lady of 2007 when I was leading a walk here last Wednesday. The earliest Kent sighting on the Butterfly Conservation website was at Walmer at the end of March! |
