Help in identifying fly please
Hi folks,

This is quite a large fly - looks like it just escaped an encounter with a web or some such. Anyway, would greatly appreciate help with an id.

It appears to be one of the Robber Flies.

It is Empis tessellata (Diptera, Empididae) - one of the so-called Dance Flies.
