I found this huge dragonfly today,looking through the Gallery it seems to be an Emperor Dragonfly,he definately looked like Royalty!  
Due to the background,the wings dont show as well as they could have, but I`m pleased with the pics anyway.I have never seen one of these giants before,so it made my day  |

Nice photos and well spotted Za. I'm no expert so won't confirm it's an Emperor but it looks like one. It's always a thrill when you photograph a species you haven't had before.

Great image Za, you did well to spot it , it is so well camouflaged. I have never seen one, but I must admit I have only recently become interested in Dragonflies. I'm not surprised it made your day . |

The female has greenish eyes, whilst the male has blue-green. The female abdomen is mainly dull green, but can become bluer in very warm conditions. |
