Hi,
Can anyone ID this largish in Caterpillar terms hairy Caterpillar. Taken on the 10th May 2007.
It was on the edge of a reed bed eating a reed stem if that's any help. I thought at first it was a Drinker moth Caterpillar but it looks a bit too hairy compared to others in the Gallery.

At a guess Steve I would say a good two and a half inches long and at the rate it was chomping that reed it wouldn't be long before it was three inches.

Impressive creature! The one caterpillar I'd love to see is a Deaths Head Hawk Moth. Does any one have any pictures of them?
