| | | Re: Unidentified Insect It may be a Snipe Fly Rhagio scolopacea but without seeing the abdomen from above I can't be sure!
It doesn't look at all right for a Robber Fly the legs are too light in colour and not heavy enough in build, Robber Flies are quite robust insects. |

| | | Re: Unidentified Insect I don't think it's either of the above. The length of the antennae point towards the Nematocera, I'd hazard a guess at one of the Sciaridae, possibly Sciara. The way it's standing, with head up, would suggest this but I wouldn't bet my house on it. |

As for the beetle, its almost certainly a Harpalus but again, without photos showing the exact diagnostic features I think sp would be the way to go. |
