Three's a crowd!

I saw this 'lump' flying around my garden this afternoon. I followed it until it landed on some goose-grass, Galium aparine, and was a bit surprised to see this trio. The fly guy on the right was doing the flying, she in the middle was having a ball and the one on the left was doing the dying! Well thats how I interpret it.
I guess the fly on the left is the nuptial gift presented by the male Empid to the female.

Can someone identify the species of the active pair and possibly the victim too?

The predators are Empis tessellata and the prey Bibio marci.
