Hi,
I found an insect in my room tonight and I'm looking for some website that shows you pics of insects and you can pick out one you want for identification purposes. Do any of you know if such a site exists?
The insect I am looking for ID on was a very small green one. It had long transparent wings that were a bit longer than the length of its body. It was thin, and seemed to be able to bend its bottom half. Had 6 legs that seemed to be able to stick, or hook, onto surfaces. It also had prominent red eyes placed either side of its head and 2 long feelers on its head. It seemed to be attracted to light, and it didnt seem to bothered about me catching it, i dont know if it even realised I was right in front of it! Its length was about maybe 2-3 cm.
Any help would be great, thanks. |

agree, sounds like a lacewing, they are attracted to light like moths.
If not, possibly a cricket?

Yes it was! Just looked up some pics of it and that was the one i had. Wow you lot are good, and fast. In future I'm gonna do all my insect shopping here!
