| | Thursley dragon Either broad bodied or four spotted dragonfly seen and photographed at Thursley Common on Sunday. My first dragon/damsel of the year. Havent had chance to look at photos - will post ASAP.
Went looking for large red (which I have seen in previous years) but none were apparent, nor any other damsel or dragon. Have seen other reports of damsels round the Moat but I couldnt see any.
Did see quite a few lizards sun-bathing on the boardwalks.
Bit concerned about the water quality at Thursley since last years fire - the water in the area around Thor's stone is very black with an oily film. Good to see they have started removing/replacing the burnt boardwalks in the last couple of weeks, but the area still looks very barren.

P.S. Whilst I am on about Thursley - there is supposed to be a rare butterfly species that lives in an area of the nature reserve which survived the fire - does anyone know exactly where they are? |
