| | | Brown Lacewing? Is this little fella a Brown Lacewing?
I photographed him in my study window the other day - he is small (about 1cmish) and pale brown (the flash didn't bring out the colour so well ). He was very active and this was the only pic that was even slightly focused (out of about 15).
Thanks

| | | Re: Brown Lacewing? It could be Micromus angulatus which is about 8mm
there are several around this size but the others have
blotchey markings

| | | Re: Brown Lacewing? The venation in the wings is too simple for it to be a lacewing (as the name suggests they have very complex venation which makes the wings look 'lacy').
Apart from that, it's a bit of a mystery to me. It looks like a Caddis Fly, but the wings aren't hairy. The antennae suggest Inchneumon, but the mouthparts aren't right, and the wings suggest a possible plant bug/psyllid, but again the mouthparts aren't right. It could possibly be a micromoth (mouthparts fit) but this isn't a group I'm familiar with, so I don't know if the wing venation is complex enough.
It's going to be one of those insects that doesn't look like the rest of it's group! Hopefully someone else'll be able to fill in the gaps.
