Thx for the lovely pictures! I just saw my first beefly a couple of weekends ago, and have been searching around the internet as I did not know what they were actually called til I stumbled upon your excellent photos.
There seems to be a lack of information about them; wikipedia seems v sparse.

Well I am glad my photos were of help to you
I look forward to seeing them every year and try to get as many photos of them as I can.
Hopefully you have found out some more information about them, ie, they are totally harmless, they are a parasitic fly not a bee, they seek out solitary bee holes in the ground to lay their eggs.
