| | | Re: Hi from Buckinghamshire Hi,
I'm from just outside Aylesbury too. I don't know how well you know the local wildlife but I walked up over Grangelands at the weekend (near Chequers, between Wendover and Princes Risborough) and the cowslips were just starting to come up. In a few weeks the fields there will be an amazing sea of yellow and a bit closer to Aylesbury is Aston Clinton Rag Pits, which few people seem to visit but has a fantastic display of orchids in June / July | Berks, Bucks & Oxon Wildllife Trust |.
Welcome to WAB.

Thank you for the local info Chris, I haven't heard of Grangelands.

My first post on my first day as a member of WAB.
Uploaded 2 pics for aproval so far. I love using Sepia on my Sony D32 camera and getting a nice victorian look to shots.
Looking forward to posting lots of pics. If you find one of mine, please comment on it.
Thanks

| | | Re: Hi from Buckinghamshire Ive been tramping around aylesbury and bierton the last couple of days and been quite successful in photographing butterflies. Ive seen peacocks, tortoiseshell, a speckled wood, but im not sure what the last one ive seen is, though its probably obvious to many of you. I've been uploading them to my website but i dont know if im allowed to give the address here. It's either a small white, big white or a brimstone butterfly. It had great fun leading me on a merry chase to try and get close enough to photograph it, but i did, and here it is:
Can anyone tell me what it is? Im beginning to believe theres only really 3 types of butterfly. 1. The poser - it'll sit down right in front of you adjusting its position for the most impressive view. 2. The kamikaze - It flies all around, and almost into, you. Twisting you in knots to get a photo. and finally the most annoying (but beautiful!) 3. The personal trainer - You could spend all day and end up lost following this one to get close enough for a photo!. |
