| | | Hello from a newbie Hello All
I am writing from Ontario, Canada, and live in a century old farmhouse high on the Oak Ridges Morraine. I am an English born gal who left England in 1958. I have joined this site as I discovered it when I did a search on English wildflowers.
I am coming, with my hubby, back to visit this April after almost 48 years!
My interests include walking through the bluebell woods and seeing all of the lovely flowers that I remember under the hedgerows.
My question is, "when is the best time to visit to see the above?"
Any advice will be much appreciated.

April sounds like a good time to me and I can think of some great bluebell woods throughout the UK where you can literally walk amongst tens of thousands of them.
If you gives us a general idea of where you plan to visit north east, south west etc, we'll see if we can dig up some places that might be worth a quick visit on your travels
Cheers

I took a photo of Bluebells 28th. April 2005. Indeed my hairdresser said that he would take his mother to see them in late May, but I had to tell him that it would be too late then. They seem to be getting earlier and earlier each year. This is in the east of the East Midlands. Seems you should be timing your visit just right.
Regards

I have always told people visiting Britain to go in the spring and if coming to Ontario, then the fall is glorious!
I am planning to be in the Nottingham area (my birthplace is Beeston); Then Birmingham to visit a young couple that we met in Cuba a month ago. Family in East Anglia and Winchester areas. Also Folkestone and Maidstone, Kent which is where I grew up.
My list is endless but that is narrowing it down.
Glad to have found you and what a lovely photo. Thanks again.

Raye | Raye,
One of the best bluebell sites around Nottingham is Rufford Park, in Sherwood Forest Area. A couple of pictures from Rufford Park. |
