| | | Hi, folks Hi, everyone. I'm new here and just wanted to say a big hello to everyone. I'm a 4th year Zoology student at Dundee University, in the middle of my honours year: the most fun year of my life
I've been interested in wildlife ever since I can remember. Apart from that I'm just your average dude who likes guitars and loud music.
Cheers

Four years in Scotland studying Zoology - it's a hard life, but I guess someone's gotta do it. |

Your love of guitars & loud music strikes a chord ( pardon the lousey pun!!) with me, apart from being a wildlife photographer, I also tour with a tribute rock band as their official photographer.
I like nothing better than sitting at the computer, chatting on the forums here at WAB whilst listening to my favorite music at ear-splitting volume.
I've been a huge Pink Floyd fan for many years, but have modern tastes as well, the favorite being the fantastic "System of a Down".

Fourwings, I have a question for you. You Said you're a wildlife photographer, is that professionally?? How do you become one? I'm building up a portfolio because that's what I'd kinda like to do, either that or in research for nature docs, although i don't really know if I'm all that good at it. So you have to take a media course or anything?

I still work full time in agriculture, for now anyway
Building an extensive portfolio is an excellent start - its what I did & infact still am doing.
Try approaching graphic designers, publishers etc.... they are quite often after good natural history images and are usually more than happy to deal with individual photographers rather than trawling through endless photo libraries for that certain shot - its an approach that has worked for me.
I have also done commission work for designers, but there are certain pitfalls involved in this route, working to an exact brief can be awfully frustrating when the wildlife or animals dont co-operate, plus your images can still be rejected even after spending the time & effort to take them

| | | Re: Hi, folks Cool, thanks for the advice! Yeah I kinda know already about the wonders of trying to get that perfect shot of an animal
That's pretty cool though. I hope you manage to get the business going!
