| | | Good evening all Hello all,
new to Wild About Britain, i have loved the country for years and do enjoy myself when im there.
I am about to embark on a 2 year college course in countryside management, I am looking forward to it, I volunteer my time but it is difficult working 6 days a week. What are peoples thoughts to this kind of course?
I hope i will find many answers to many questions and learn something while on the forum.

I think the course you have embarked on is the way to go.
I used to volunteer for the NT (before moving to Wales) as I wanted a job in countryside management, I started off with 2 days voluntary then 3 days and finally this lead to a full time paid job as an arboretum assistant in a 300 acre site. The NT wanted to employ me but I was up against all others with degrees in countryside management etc. But this work did lead to the Aboretum job and LANTRA qualifications comming out my ears, all of which are pretty useless now to me, as moving to Wales I went back to my roots, dentistry
This day and age, I'm sorry to say experience isn't enough on it's own, you need those qualifications, so good luck, keep up the voluntary work and study hard and get the job you wish for
Regards
Lee
