HI all, wanting to help

Hi all,

I'm new here, and wanting to help wildlife in my area, but have no idea where to start, does anyone know if there are any wildlife rehab centre's in the Wiltshire, Hampshire, and posibley Dorset and Summerset.

I exsperianced in domestic pets, but want to branch out into wildlife, happy to hand rear, and foster young and old wildlife.

If anyone can help me, help wildlife that would be wonderful.

Welcome to Wild About Britain, Vixen.

I'm sure there will be members of the forums who will be able to suggest where you might go to offer your help regarding wildlife rehabilitation. I'd be pretty surprised if there were no Hedgehog or bird sanctuaries, for example, near you. There are one or two listed in the Directory pages of Wild About Britain - http://www.wildaboutbritain.co.uk/directory/ - so you could try them initially. Yellow pages list Animal Welfare Centres and Conservation Organisations too. If we can find any more we'll let you know.

Good luck - it's nice to hear from someone who wants to 'get their hands dirty'!

Hi Vixen,

Have you had a look in the Wild About Britain directory? You should be able to find some local groups, sanctuaries etc in there.

Cheers

Stu

if you are interested in bats your local bat group - contacts available from www.BCT.org.uk may have a re-hab scheme

Re: HI all, wanting to help

Hi,
I read your post about that you had e mailed the Wildlife Hospital, can I ask is it the wildlife hospital in Newton Tony, Nr. Salisbury?
If it is their computer is down, if you go back to their website you can contact them on the phone number displayed.
The lady from there has been to my house tonight to see my injured pigeon and she was lovely, and apparently there is always a need for volunteers, so I suggest you give her a ring.
Hope this has helped.

Thankyou ever so much for letting me know. I was wondering what was going on. Will ring them as soon as I can.

Thanks again.
