(ah bless). I will say this about the shot. Even though it was taken "a la vehicle" the thing I like is that the first time that I looked at it ....I looked at the tree (as you'd expect) then across to the light area of sky/clouds on the far RHS then immediately followed the line of darker area in the clouds back across to the tree again.....like a tennis game. Some shots yuo can look at and then get totally distracted but I don't think this shot has that at all.
Oh yes, what's Stonehenge like? give me your honest opinion! (Other people I know have said that it's a 'let down').

| | | Re: landscapes? I might be going blind here but.... Like your tree photos Kayleigh, especially the first one. There is a good relationship between the two trees, helped by the snow lines on the ground that lead the eye into the photo. I think this shot would also work well in B&W.
The second one does look, as already said, very lonely and it is always a bonus if any photo from a car comes out OK. I think it would be improved if the tree and horizon were not as central. The rule of thirds is very useful, but when trying to grab a shot from a moving car, that is not easy.
PentaxAm, I visited Stonehenge may years ago when you could just wander in among the stones whenever you wanted. Now you need to book a visit and I am not sure you can always get in among the stones.
My impression was that it is smaller than I imagined, so I was a little disappointed, but still worth a visit. The main problem could be getting a view without lots of visitors.
However, there are lots of other ancient sites within a few miles, eg Avebury circle and West Kennett Long Barrow.

I did take other shots as the light was changing all the time but all equally blurred..
I just saw this tree and landscape and wanted a shot of it..
As for Stonehenge we were only passing going to a wedding so we literally stopped for me to get some shots and it was a Friday evening so was all closed and yes it was disappointing in the fact it was fenced off so we had to try to get shots over an 8ftish wire fence it would have been good to get some shots of the stones and when you get the right sky over them can look stunning from a photography point of view.
As for anything else they are just stones that would look good in photographs
I don't know what other peoples expectations are of them so if they are expecting to feel anything other than cold stones then they would be disappointed IMHO.
I have some in the Gallery but they are not as I would have liked..
Thank you too Tringa, I do have a few Mono ones of the snow tree on my computer it does work well. |
