I have just joined the forum after reading many excellent comments relating to all sorts of British Nature. I am amazed at what can be found in your garden if you are patient and hate gardening as much as I do ;D!
Welcome look forward to seeing your pics

I spend a lot of time at Davy Downs, which is split in two by the Mardyke, one half is open to the public and the other half is fenced off but i have permission to roam and there is always plenty to see if you can slow down to natures pace. |

My Flickr is: Flickr: C Davis...'s Photostream
It's a bit hit and miss between the decent shots and the riff raff
Saw my first fox in the wild the other day, for some reason my camera thought I was taking photos in the bowels of the earth so with the adjustment to the exposure it isnt a great photo but it lets me remember what it felt like so its all good.
I wish I had a garden, I live in a flat so my "at home" wildlife is zilch, aside from the pigeons who are good at emptying an entire feeder in two days! I really like the idea of showing people the wildlife that really is out there if you look for it, I mean everyone hears birds but who really knows what species they are? And are they chicks? If so how many, what is their life story, when will they fledge and discover the world out there, when will they eventually fall prey to something bigger? Like the fox I saw, who knows what he ended up chasing, how long he had been sitting there, was he/she hunting for cubs in a den somewhere?
That's the sort of thing I like discovering, it;s about time I started looking up some bird song! Not that Im a twitcher but there are plenty of birds no matter where you go |

You got a crafty fox shot there. I really think any shot of these skittish animals is a good 'un in my opinion.
Keep it up |

| | | Re: Afternoon from Essex Hehe thanks, didnt realize he was looking straight at us till I looked at the photo. Only saw a blur of red in the yellowy grass and thought it was dead at first. Great camouflage!
Really, REALLY want to get some video of wild badgers but given the thread recently about a guy getting an official warning and all that rubbish it seems doubtful. Seen plenty of badger or fox trails over Epping forest. Would love to get a clear shot of a kestrel too, got a couple at the real extent of my lens so they arent brilliant. Thinking of getting an extended for my lenses but the drop in aperture is a bummer on a lens that is already f4 not to mention my finances!
Will have to assemble a hit list of species methinks! |
