| | | Hi from South Wales - I need help! Hello, just found your site and thought I would join. I would like help identifying a bird please. The thing is, that I have not actually seen it but have heard it and I'd like to know what it is. I live near woodland and open farmland, there are barn owls, bats and all sorts of kestrels, red kites, hawks etc. This particular bird I have only heard this year, despite living in the same house for 12 years. It sounds like it is whistling "pop goes the weasel". I hear it mostly in the evenings. Does anyone have any suggestions please? Thank you. |

| | | Re: Hi from South Wales - I need help! Try a Redstart, they have that lyrical bit first, and thejangly bit at the end that could be "pop goes the weasel". My knowledge of birdsong is not very good, but it would fit the habitat you describe, and they are in full song round here at the moment.
