Wow! Thanks everyone! I'm now currently in the process of researching some weekend outings! I think I might have to get my bike down from home and go on some bike rides around some of the suggested places as well - just been looking up South Norwood Country Park that you suggested Bobbobthebob - it says there's a cycle path running through it... and the pictures of Richmond Park look amazing! Think a picnic might be in order weather permitting... I take back everything I said about London being lifeless

I did the opposite of you, I moved from London to the countryside!

I found it a huge culture shock like you, but I was about 16 at the time and moving from the city to the middle of nowhere (moved to Leicestershire) was horrible for me. No tubes, no late night shopping ~ just grass, trees etc etc. Now, though I live in Derbyshire and truely appreciate and love the grass, trees etc etc ~ strange what a few years can do to a person

Hi Sarah, I can empathise with you, not too good myself with traffic, buildings, noise, planes, people and the rat race but there is a silver lining to every cloud and if you look deep enough you'll find it everywhere you look!
