| | Hello from Derbyshire Hi All
I joined the other day, as I saw an article about the decline of bees in the UK, and thought “I can do something”, did a little search on Google, and voila, up popped this site.
I live in an old mining town in Derbyshire. I live in a terrace house with the smallest back yard in the world, which is patio slabbed (like most of my neighbours). I know nothing about gardening, hence, why I posted on this site to ask advice about plants to attract bees.
I can’t believe how much everyone knows and how kind everyone is about giving advice and sharing information. Plus the warm welcomes I have received.
My plan is to try my best to create a wildlife area using pots, and alas, a very limited budget ~ but hey, Mother Nature didn’t use money to grow a tree! So I’m sure I’ll get there!
I’ll apologise in advance if I post queries that seem common sense to all of you, but I’m a bit of a numpty about gardening and wildlife, but I’ll try my best to learn. I’ve already learnt quite a bit, thanks to the advice given here and some links kindly supplied by members. |

| | | Re: Hello from Derbyshire Minxski, you ask as many questions as you like, there a so many like-minded people on WAB, you will feel very much at home here.
By the way, bees will soon find the flowers in your back yard, I guarantee.
All the best.

| | | Re: Hello from Derbyshire If you look in the "WAB members gardens" I think someone on there has a very tiny courtyard and has lots of pots it looks beautiful and attracts a lot of wildlife. |

Kayleigh ~ I live near Matlock, but in not such a posh area Thanks for the tip, I saw one that talked about a mini pond, I'll look for the one you suggested Deb London ~ thank you artdemole ~ I bought some lavender seeds today from the co-op in a mini propagator (really a cup with a lid), so hopefully soon my yard will smell beautiful and have lots of bees |
