| | | Newbie here Good morning to you all, just introducing myself. My name is Alan and i live with my wife Annette on a 13 acre smallholding in N Lincolnshire. I am 59 years old and have always been a very keep wildlife enthusiast taking hundreds of phographs of everything from frogs to badgers. My wife and i have also raised many injured and orphaned creatures most of which were released but on occations we have found it more realistic to keep it. One happy outcome was that of a baby swallow whos nest was shaken from a stable wall by heavy vehicles passing very nearby. Only 1 out of 3 babies lived past 24 hours but we raised 1 on meal worms. On release it decided it wanted to stay and used to fly into the farmhouse and into the cage it had lived in at evening time. During the day it would come and land on our head, arms or shoulder to the amazement of visitors. Eventually it flew off to Africa with it's mates but to our amazement it came back the following year and let us know it was back by flying around us very closely but not quite landing on us. It raised a family of its own then went of again at the end of the year, we never saw it again but it gave us great satisfaction that it had lived at all.
Just wanted to share that one
Hope to read though some of your posts and enjoy your experiences. Cheers, Alan |
